Do you "paint" with pastels? If so, how exactly ?

there are 2 types of pastels, one is the oil pastels and the other is the chalky type. i prefer the latter. i start with the first layer and build up each layer using a spray called fixative. i like to use my fingers to achieve a smooth appearance in some areas. just play with it and have fun
