IMac screen-flickering? help?

I bought an iMac 21.5" about 1 month ago, and from the moment i turned it on it always flickered a bit (from white to black and so on) and some times it goes completely out so i have to force it to shutdown by holding the power on. i would really like some help on it because it's annoying.
