What is the youngest age to be to have a pet lizard and not have an as high risk of salmonella poisoning?

I heard there was a certain age you should be before you get a reptile as a pet to reduce the risk of getting salmonella poisoning, is this true? (I have a 4 year-old sister will she be safe if I got an iguana?)
