Why do I sound like a baby when recorded?

Okay. So Im honestly pretty good at singing in real life. but Ive recently recored myself singing (taken video with webcam and digital camera) and I sound horrible. It makes me sound like a little baby. What the heck is up with that? Just sucky cameras, or can my voice just not be recorded?
