My cement on my temporary crown tastes SO bad. Will the permanent one be better?

I had a temporary crown put on and the taste was just foul, all the time, but especially when I ate. Then my temporary crown fell off and the taste went away. The crown has the same horrible smell that I've been tasting. I've put it back in using denture adhesive like my dentist said to do over the phone. It's all I can do to not rip it out of my mouth right now and just go without it for a week until I get the real one. Is the permanent crown going to taste so bad, too? I can hardly stand it.
